Day 15 - 31 May - Cockatoo Creek to Eliott Falls - 36 km

Up early, took a quick trip down to the creek and then on our way. The road from Cockatoo Creek had been graded recently so we were riding most of the time over a series of rolling hills until we stopped or should I say Tony stopped to wait for me. I was feeling a bit dodgy after the last big hill so I took an extra 5 minute break.
After a muesli bar we were on our way to Fruitbat Falls.
Fruitbat is a beautiful spot and we jumped in for swim. At 1st we had it to ourselves but then other people decided to swim as well. As our destination for the day was only 16 km further we pushed on.

The track was badly eroded in places making riding tricky. At 1 point we had haul the bikes up a steep section across a gully. Very hard work!
Saw this trailer that hadn't made it up the track.
Arriving at Eliott Falls we found a campsite with table and chairs dumped our gear and went to look around. Eliot Falls was great.

We went for a swim at Twin Falls.  Its great feeling the water pounding on your back under the waterfall.
 Joe being silly.
We also went to the Saucepan which was a smaller waterfall.  Met a couple guys there, Will and Liam who took our photo.

Soon after we saw them, these guys took their massive Esky down to the Saucepan and rode it down the river to Twin Falls.  Crazy guys, also off their tits.

Back to the bikes to cook some more Asian noodles and then to relax. I grabbed my camera and went for a walk to photograph some carnivorous plants. Back at the bikes Tony was visited by some Park Rangers who said we had to move on because we didn't have a camping permit. We packed up and headed for the gate.

As we were heading out we came across Will and Liam again and explained what was happening.  They offered us a beer and  while we were talking and drinking the ranger came up again.  Liam (the one with the 70's porn star moustache) then switched on the charm and started sweet talking the ranger.  Will got into the act and attempted to book a permit over the satellite phone.  They invited us to stay on their site and made us tea.  Also gave us beer and whisky to try and catch up with them.
Will and Liam have taken 12 months off and are travelling around Australia and doing it in style.  They had me in stitches all night with their funny stories.

Liam had caught a barramundi and made it up into wraps for us.  Fantastic!!!

Will and Liam were great hosts, even insisted that we have their chairs.  Fantastic to sit down in a proper chair.

Liam and Will headed off to play with people from the Variety Club Bash who were also camping. Next thing I heard was Will returning to camp in the early hours telling Liam that he fallen asleep by the creek and woken up in the creek drowning.

Will had gone down to the Saucepan to listen to some music after spending time with the Variety Club people. Next thing he knows he wakes up in the water drowning. Lost his phone and tobacco. Not happy.
