Day 5 - 21 May - Cooktown to Isabella Falls - 46 k

Muddled around Cooktown until after 10.00 am. Went down to the fishermans wharf for a look. Stopped for full breafast at waterside cafe, had bacon eggs and sausages, 1st real meat meal in 2 years. I did enjoy it. We posted our sleeping bags and excess clothing home and then finally on our way.

Saw this sign at the fish and chip shop, Grilled and Gutted, but your intrepid travellers pushed on ready to take on the crocs and turn them into belts.

Tony got friendly with the locals, but they were a fairly wooden lot;-)) Boom Boom.

About 10 km out we met Dorissey a German cyclist Patrick had mentioned. She started in Germany and is going round the world. Seriously heavy duty bike. She was heading back to Cooktown.

Also saw this sign. Strange signage up here in FNQ. Can someone tell me what this means?

Riding was easier although our legs are still heavily fatigued. Joe made some roadside adjustments to his bike i.e removed his runners from the back wheel and we were on our way.

Mostly flat with some down hills until we reached Endeavour Falls Roadstation at 12.30 pm. Got some water and decided to go on to Isabella Falls. Mistake!! Should have stopped for lunch as we were bonking. Tony tried to take take a picture of a goanna but it was too quck for him Isabella Falls was beautiful and we decided to camp there.

Encountered 2 characters at the falls, one bearded hippy who offered us his campsite because he didn't want to put the fire out and another bloke fishing for yabbies to use as bait.

After that we had the place to ourselves. An eagle spent some time swooping around the falls. Magic! Also had black snake race through my legs while I was walking near some rocks. Also spotted an azure kingfisher with a n orange belly. beautiful!
We both had showers in the waterfall, fantastic!!! Photos available those who appreciate perfect examples of the male form. Send $100.00 to AdonisinWaterfall@gmail.com.

Dinner was Continental Satay Rice cooked over the old guys fire. Filled our stomachs nicely. Lots of flotsam and jetsam in the Isabella Creek and I was lucky enough to stumble on these little fellas, so peeled off the top and tested it out. Didn't touch the sides. Early to bed for a dream free sleep.
