Wild horses roam freely here and when we got up this morning, a few were wandering around the caravan park looking for a feed.
Having completed our original aim of reaching the Top we are basically hanging around until the boat leaves on Monday. For something to do we rode down to Alau Beach which is just outside Bamaga. Nice spot with a quiet camping ground. After that we rode out the other side of Bamaga to see some WW11 plane wrecks.
The first was a DC 3 with most of it's fuselage intact. The second was an Australian built Bristol Beaufort in far worse condition. There was third wreck but we didn't find it. They were all close to the current Bamaga airport which was Jackey Jackey Airfield in WW11. Riding through the scrub we past lots of dumps of rusting 44 gallon drums. This would have been dispersed fuel dumps for the airfield.
Back to Bamaga Bakehaus for another crayfish wrap lunch and then back to Seisia where we spent the afternoon working on the blog. In the evening we headed down to the supermarket but spotting that the Fisherman's Club was open we went there for some mackeral burgers. Lovely fresh rolls and salad with the fish.
It was karaoke night and I spoke to the MC about Joe singing, but they were slow getting going and we left before they had even started.
Back at camp we chatted with Dean & Jenny who are retired farmers from Kingston SA and John a diesel engineer who is working here.
